All police officers will have to fill out a form to declare whether they have used "SkyECC" or "Encrochat" and if found to be so, they will be held responsible.
Cases where officials or former police officials have been involved in criminal events have increased recently.
We remind you that on November 21, 2021, the "Metamorphosis 2" operation was finalized, which hit a criminal group. Among the 11 people involved was Erzen Breçani, the former deputy director of the Tirana Police and the chief of crimes at Police Station No. 6, Dedan Gjoni.
Their arrests came after the disclosure of communications in "SkyECC" in the years 2019-2020 in France and Belgium with the help of internationals.
Referring to the statistics, there were more arrested policemen in the period January-November 2022. The Police Supervision Agency has put 134 officers in handcuffs last year, compared to 69 that have been arrested so far.
According to SPAK, there are a considerable number of other policemen under investigation, for whom handcuffs will not be spared very soon. The only question that remains is: Whose turn is it?
For this issue, Europol organized a meeting a few weeks ago with representatives of SPAK and the Ministry of the Interior, where they shared concerns and information about Albanian police officers who were users of encrypted platforms and were implicated in collaboration with criminal groups operating inside and outside Albania, in several EU countries. The data obtained by Europol has apparently been immediately turned into a criminal case in Albania, as the Deputy Minister of the Interior, Besfort Lamallari, confirmed that there will be other arrests in the ranks of the police.
"This does not mean that at the police level we do not do our job. We will exhaust every means, every possible opportunity to connect bridges of communication, to follow, find and arrest and bring to criminal responsibility every angle, which has open accounts with the Albanian state", said the Deputy Minister of the Interior Besfort Lamallari.
The Minister of the Interior said on Friday, while introducing the new head of the AMP, Florian Sulejmani, that all police officers will have to fill out a form to declare whether they used "SkyECC" or "Encrochat" and if they turn out to be such, will bear responsibility.
