The European Union Delegation in Tirana has reacted to the media regarding the vote held today in the Assembly, where the socialist majority rejected SPAK's request to lift Belinda Balluku's immunity.
In its response, the EU Delegation emphasizes that it is aware of the result of today's vote in the Parliament of Albania.
According to EU representatives, respect for the rule of law and the fight against corruption remain key elements on Albania's path towards membership in the European Union.
"The European Union is aware of the outcome of today's vote in the Albanian Parliament. Commitment to the rule of law and the fight against corruption are of essential importance for the EU accession process. Ensuring an appropriate environment for SPAK to effectively carry out its work is essential to credibly support Albania's progress towards membership in the European Union," the reaction states.
