Journalist Eni Ferhati has spoken about the arrest of former health minister Ilir Beqaj. He says that while he was in charge of the SASPAK agency, Beqaj committed unimaginable violations with tenders.
Ferhati says that he was paid twice for a tender, by the Ministry of Tourism and by SASPAK. He adds that according to SPAK, it has been reported that the contracts were issued before they were signed and the documentation was signed much later.
"Unimaginable violations were committed as described by the special prosecutor's office where even for a tender the money was paid twice, that is, if it was paid by the Ministry of Tourism on the other hand and the SASPAK agency had performed invoices and tendering procedures for the same event, organized on the same date and with the same agenda. On the other hand, we must be correct, SPAK says that although the contracts were issued before they were signed and the documentation was signed much later. According to the lawyers of the investigated persons, SPAK has neglected to receive a manual on how to deal with foreign donations" , said the journalist for "Euronews Albania".
Also, Ferhati informs that Beqaj had also included his wife in the shares and that her businesses have not been reported before.
"Beqaj had the obligation to report on his wife's businesses. Being the wife of a person with high state duties does not prevent you from doing business, the fact that he has not declared either the shares that his wife had, or in the restaurant 'Gzona' or the investments that were made with Ilir's money Becaj. I don't know why he chose Mr. Beqaj, since he left a mark, having a business relationship with his wife, any responsible politician or who knows the law would not make such a mistake", he said.
