Catholic believers around the world celebrate Easter today, the day that commemorates the resurrection of Christ and is considered one of the most important moments in the religious calendar.

The celebrations began on Saturday evening with the solemn vigil mass, which was held in all churches, to continue throughout Sunday with the relevant rituals and traditions.

In Tirana, at the “St. Paul” Cathedral, many believers gathered to attend the resurrection mass, which began around 10:00 p.m. During the ceremony, Archbishop Arjan Dodaj announced the news of Christ’s resurrection and emphasized the spiritual importance of this night that symbolizes the transition from darkness to light.

In his message, he wished that this holiday would bring hope and rebirth to the daily lives of believers, emphasizing that faith gives a person the strength to face challenges and look to the future with optimism.

"A holy Easter that will be a rebirth in the soul in our families, in every young Albanian man and woman. With God, every dead hope is resurrected and comes to life with more light, enthusiasm for the present and the future. Whoever believes, never fears life, the future, never avoids challenges," said Bishop Dodaj.

Believers, for their part, shared wishes for peace, prosperity, and greater harmony among people.

This holiday comes after the period of Lent, during which believers practice sacrifice and abstinence for 40 days, in memory of Christ's sacrifice.

Meanwhile, the central Easter mass was held at the Vatican by Pope Leo XIV.

Easter Day traditionally begins with blessed foods and continues with morning Mass. One of the main symbols of this holiday is the red egg, which is exchanged among believers as a sign of life and resurrection.

In Albanian families, this day is also marked with festive tables, where traditional dishes are served, while the emphasis is also placed on forgiveness and reconciliation, turning Easter into a moment of reflection and rapprochement between people.
