The head of the Albanian Disaster and Emergency Management Agency, Ami Kozeli, spoke about the collapse of the mountain slope in Dragostunjë, which continues to keep thousands of people stranded on the road for 8 hours.
He told the media that teams are continuing work to initially open one axis after landslides on the Librazhd-Qafë Thanë axis.
Kozeli categorically denied that the works had any impact, saying that 'the collapse is a natural phenomenon', even though the new opening passes right over the mountain that collapsed and heavy equipment works on it every day.
"We have a slope that is oversaturated with water due to heavy rainfall. This has also caused this landslide. The controlled collapse was carried out because there was a risk. And now the contractor is cleaning it and we hope it will be cleared in 20-30 minutes. The goal is to open both lanes, but it is also a very large massif that will require work with a shovel ," said the head of the ARRSH.
