Kilometer-long queue of vehicles, many passengers remain stranded...
Landslides and landslides in the area known as "Arrat e Furrës", on the Librazhd-Prrenjas axis, have led to the indefinite suspension of vehicle traffic along this segment, creating chaos in movement to and from the southeast of the country.
Since the early hours of the morning, hundreds of drivers and passengers have been stranded on the road, waiting and lacking clear information on alternative transportation options. The long queue of vehicles has stretched for several kilometers, while the situation has been accompanied by uncertainty and tension for travelers.
A driver, who was traveling towards Korça, said that the lack of orientation has further aggravated the situation. “We set off towards Korça in the morning and we are stuck here without any clear information. We were told that the road is closed indefinitely. We don’t know where to go,” he declared.
Even families with children have been left waiting for hours. "The children are tired, we don't even have enough water. We need an alternative solution as soon as possible," said another driver, who was traveling with his family.
Heavy truck drivers are also concerned, warning of economic consequences due to delays. “Every hour of delay is a cost for us. We transport goods that must be delivered within the day,” said one of them. Some travelers, faced with the lack of clarity on the solution, have chosen to walk towards the city of Prrenjas.
According to residents of the area, the problem in the "Arrat e Gurrës" segment has been present for weeks, while the situation has worsened in recent days, leading to the decision to suspend traffic.
Meanwhile, the Maliq–Lozhan–Moglicë–Gramsh axis has been oriented as an alternative route for small vehicles. But this segment also presents serious infrastructure problems. During the day, deep cracks were identified in some parts of the road, as well as damage to the asphalt, which makes traffic difficult and potentially dangerous.
The increased flow of vehicles, following the traffic diversion, has created long queues on this axis, which currently remains the only functional connection for the Korça region towards Tirana. Heavy vehicles and buses are not allowed to circulate on this segment, further complicating the situation for the transport of goods and passengers.
Authorities have not yet announced a deadline for reopening the blocked road, while drivers continue to face long waits, forced detours and a lack of detailed information on developments on the ground.
