The Maliq-Gramsh road, which as of today is serving as an alternative axis connecting the southeast with Elbasan and further to Tirana, is facing serious damage to its structure, while the increased flow of vehicles has also led to long queues in some segments.
Today, deep cracks have been identified in some parts of this axis, creating significant difficulties in traffic and increased risk for drivers. In some areas, damage to the asphalt is visible, while the road's depreciation has deteriorated significantly compared to previous periods.
This road axis has shown problems even before, but in recent days the situation has worsened, at a time when it remains the only open road that ensures the connection of the Korça region with Tirana. The diversion of traffic towards this segment came after the complete blockage of traffic on the “Librazhd–Pogradec” axis, due to the risk of the collapse of the bridge in the “Arrat e Gurrës” area, near Dragostunja, as a result of the worsening landslide.
Following this decision, traffic has been directed towards the Maliq–Lozhan–Moglicë–Gramsh axis for small vehicles, while heavy vehicles and buses are not allowed to pass through this segment, due to safety conditions. The sudden increase in traffic has increased pressure on an infrastructure that is already showing damage, leading to slow movement and long waits for drivers.
The traffic police have set up checkpoints and are monitoring the situation on the ground, while appealing to drivers to exercise increased caution, due to cracks and landslides identified at several points on the road.
