After numerous debates on the Butrint issue, the first public hearing for the opposition's request to overturn the concession will be held on June 15 at 10:00 a.m. at the Constitutional Court.
It was MP Ina Zhupa, who announced the holding of the session in the Constitutional Court, through a post on her social network, where she announced that the President, the Ombudsman and the KLP joined the session.
Zhupa has repeatedly opposed the agreement for the development of the Butrint Park, while adding that he is confident that the issue will be handled in defense of history and national heritage.
" I share with you the good news that the first public hearing for the annulment of the Butrint concession in the Constitutional Court will be on June 15, at 10:00 a.m.! Against the concession, the President of the Republic, the High Control of the State, the Ombudsman have joined us with decrees/submissions/opinions, joining our position. Only the recipient and grantor of Butrint, the government and the foundation are in favor of the concession. I have full confidence that this lawsuit will not be treated as a political issue but as a national issue, in defense of our history, identity and national heritage ," Zhupa wrote.
The agreement with the Albanian-American foundation AADF, in which the state is also a part, aims at the development of Butrint Park, and its return to an important tourist point. Services for visitors will be increased, among which is the establishment of a reception center for visitors. In January of this year, the Albanian government took another decision reducing the area of the protected area of the Butrint National Park from 9,424.2 hectares to 8,622.2 hectares. So, an area of about 800 hectares from Manastir, Gjiri i Harta and up to the southern border at Gjiri i Pema i Tëta, is no longer included in the status of the protected area, opening the way for touristic investments, but which has caused many debates in Assembly.
