The head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, is answering questions from MPs, during a session where for several hours the heads of justice institutions have been presenting their annual reports.
One of the questions addressed to Dumani was about a statement by former ambassador Donald Lu, who, while serving as a diplomat in Tirana, mentioned 4 mafia families.
"Former Ambassador Lu stated that there were 4 mafia families and 20 criminal groups in Albania. Do you have a concrete result today on which family you have neutralized?" was the question addressed to Dumani.
The head of SPAK, giving his response, said that one of the things we should be proud of is the fight against organized crime.
"Thanks to cooperation with partner agencies, with Britain, the USA, and Latin American countries, we have conducted successful investigations that we at Euro Just are proud of."
We have collaborated with partner agencies that have trusted us. This trust is not a priori. I have heard that a comparison is made between SPAK and Serious Crimes.
"I was part of that too, I'm proud. I'll give you just one figure, from 2004-2019, 780 subjects were treated by Serious Crimes. In 5 years, SPAK has exceeded this figure," said Dumani.
