Journalist Osman Stafa has published on social media a letter from a doctor who, in 2017, denounced what was happening at the Oncology Hospital at the University Hospital of Tirana, at a time when the director of the largest hospital center in the country was Ogerta Manastirliu.
It is about the denunciation made at that time by doctor Aida Dragoshi Decaj, who, through a letter addressed to the director at the time, Manastirliu, denounced the actions of Majlinda Buba Ikonomi, a doctor in Oncology.
According to the complainant, for days on end, the archive of biopsy responses has been taken out of the QSUT, while the patients' biopsy responses are delayed.
The 2017 complaint alleges that patients are being directed to private clinics and hospitals.
The letter in question shows that Manastirliu, who later took over as Minister of Health, was fully aware of what was happening at the Oncology Department, but it appears that she did not take any action.
Meanwhile, in his post, journalist Stafa, who has long denounced scandals in Oncology, asks whether Manastirliu, or her successor Enkel Joti at the head of the QSUT, have conducted investigations into the accusations raised against Majlinda Buba Ikonomi?
"Has a working group been created to verify or not these claims of a doctor working in that service?"
In this case biopsies, so important for other cancer patients.
"The statements of this doctor are very serious and criminal. Therefore, I repeat, has there been any investigation by the QSUT directorate, or the Ministry of Health in this regard?", writes Stafa.
