The murder of two young men in Manëz after an argument over a coffee in a bar has shocked public opinion. Sociologist Gëzim Tushi said that these banal conflicts that end in fatalities occur because our society has a severe lack of communication to resolve disputes.
"Why did you see me, why didn't you make me coffee, why did you see my girlfriend shows that the price of Albanian life is very low. Crime is so widespread in every layer of society. We have a lack of communications to resolve the conflict. The crime rate is very worrying. How can a person be killed for a coffee," says Tushi.
He emphasizes that this case is an alarm bell for society, so institutions should also be more concerned with the education of children, especially schools and families.
"Those on the board of the company are on alert about what to do. The Manza case is a wake-up call, we need to diagnose crime in society. Crime is decreasing at younger ages. The family, school, institutions have capitulated to the education of our children. In every society there are conflicts, but the idea is how to resolve them. Many crimes are committed because we have a justice system that is not very balanced ," he added.
According to the sociologist, crime will continue to increase, so society must react as soon as possible, before solving this problem becomes more difficult.
"I regret that there is a kind of myopia that does not appreciate the increase in crime and the problems that society has. I see a kind of lack of education among young people. Crime will increase further. Crime has begun to become structured and solving this problem is very difficult. One of the causes of crime is social indifference. In Western countries where they have an education and culture, denouncing crime is done in all forms. Therefore, this society must react, not wait for it to happen," he concluded for "Report TV".
