Journalist Artan Hoxha has spoken about Fredi Beleri, the elected mayor of Himara, who cannot take the oath in his new office, as he is in prison under the charge of buying votes.
Invited to the show "The Unexposed", Hoxha stated that now that the court refused to give permission to Beleri to take the oath, the current president Jorgo Goro should continue to stay in office or after three months the government may request new elections.
"The court rejected the request made by Beler's lawyers. The law does not provide for such a case and they did not give him the opportunity to appear at the Municipal Council meeting. The Municipal Council of Himara issued an announcement, which they had left for Tuesday.
"Together We Win" does not have the majority in the Council. There are 9 SP, 7 We Win Together, 1 PSD, 1 Social Democracy. The opposition does not have the majority in the council to make a decision to take the oath in prison. From May 12 until today, Dhionisios Alfred Petro Beleri continues to be in the prison hospital. He was kept in conditions to provide him with medication.
Tomorrow, when the City Council will be constituted, within 3 months the mayor must be sworn in. If he does not take the oath within 3 months, the government has the right to request a date for the elections.
