The head of the Chamber of Advocates of Albania, Maks Haxhia, has reacted to the case of brutal violence against his colleague lawyer Sokol Mêngjesi. Haxjia emphasizes on catching the perpetrators and getting the punishment they deserve.
Furthermore, Haxhia thanks the medical staff for taking care of Manjjes, as well as thanks the media, which has continuously reported on the health condition of the lawyer. Haxjia calls on the public to show a high degree of civility and appreciate the profession of lawyer.
"The lawyer is the highest intellectual level of justice that helps in the realization of justice. Do not start their assessment from the point of view that you lose a trial because of narrow interests, because the next day you will have a trial again and you will need a lawyer." said Haxhia.
Haxhia had another appeal, this time to politics, asking them to give up typifying lawyers as the cause of situations or as lawyers for criminals.
"The reform in justice presented a series of problems. The reform is not what we wanted and expected to see, in order to realize indivisible justice, not discriminatory justice especially towards lawyers. I call on politics to give up the typification of lawyers, as lawyers of criminals", he said.
