Journalist Artan Hoxha has stated that the former weapons production plant in Poliçan today serves only for dismantling, as according to him, the production lines have been destroyed.
Hoxha made the comments in Euronews Albania, where he said that the first protest in Albania against the first democratic government took place in Poliçan, because they claimed to close the plant.
He indicated that the protest was violent and that the General Director of the State Police was also held hostage at that time.
" After the 90s, Poliçani is the first city in Albania that has held the first protest, more precisely, it was a demonstration that was very violent, against the first democratic government. So the elections were held in March, the government was formed at the beginning of April and in June there was a protest, after an attempt was made to close the Poliçani plant. There it was considered a super left support area.
An attempt was made to block the plant and the general director of the State Police there was taken hostage at that time. Hostages have been held, helicopters have been landed, and helicopters have been grounded. An attempt was made to enter with special forces. They really didn't have weapons, but if you gave them some metal pipes, the Polican lathes would make them in a moment.
