
The Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction and the Supreme Court of Justice have announced that from October 7 to 10, 2025, they will suspend the conduct of court hearings, with the exception of those of an urgent nature, such as security measures.
This decision comes due to the tributes that will be held in honor of Judge Astrit Kalaja, who was murdered on the afternoon of Monday, October 6, on the premises of this court.
In the official announcement, the judges state that they will not be able to hold the planned trials during this period, requesting the understanding of the parties.
The Courts of Vlora and Dibra also announced that they have suspended all sessions from October 7-10 in honor of Judge Astrit Kalaja.
Judicial institutions are in full solidarity with the family of the deceased. Tributes for Astrit Kalana are taking place today and will continue until tomorrow.
Astrit Kalaja, one of the judges of the Tirana Court of Appeal, was executed by gunfire inside the courthouse, in an event that has shocked the justice system and public opinion.
