The lawyer Brizida Gjikondi has expressed that the Albanian judiciary should come out with a statement to Greece that it is independent and the case of Fredi Beleri is a matter that belongs to the institutions of justice and has nothing to do with politics.
Invited to Abcnews, Gjikondi said justice in our country must show that everyone is equal before the law and that there are no Belers who can be preferential just because a certain state protects them.
"Albanian justice has very serious KLP structures, the High Inspectorate, who should have made a legal diplomatic statement against the Greek state, as did the Greek justice structures. When the Greeks had the same problem a week ago with Croatia, who claimed that they were holding their fans against any violation of the law, the judicial bodies made a strong statement against the Croatians saying that we are an independent power and you have no right to interfere with us. The same is true in Albania. We have an independence of powers.
I think that Albanian justice can no longer remain silent. The time has come for this justice to make a serious legal statement addressed to all political and internal and external factors, stating that no one has the right to prejudge its decisions and influence its decisions since, according to international rights to which we adhere, everyone is equal before the law. There is no Beler that can be preferential just because a certain state protects it. It should be a statement guaranteeing that justice is impartial and there can be no executive influence against our decisions," Gjikondi emphasized.
