Eugen Beci: Justice reform experts are systematized in the Supreme and

Former prosecutor Eugen Beci has harshly criticized the Justice Reform, attributing responsibility to politics and the way the vetting process was designed and implemented.

Beci stated that the vetting was not well thought out and that its criteria did not guarantee balanced justice.

According to him, a climate was created during the process where the goal was "not to let anyone out of prison", without consequences for those who may have unjustly held individuals in detention.

He emphasized that no judge or prosecutor was penalized for such cases, which indicates that the reform criteria were not properly studied.

"If this had happened, then we could talk about a well-thought-out reform," said Beçi.

Further, the former prosecutor stated that the high-level experts who drafted the Justice Reform are now stationed in the highest justice institutions, including the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court.

He added that other countries in the region, such as North Macedonia and Montenegro, have not accepted this reform model.

Beci also criticized the way the Assembly approved the reform, stating that the deputies voted without an in-depth analysis, trusting the experts.

"Politics is to blame for this Justice Reform, from beginning to end. Because it did an incredibly poor vetting. The experts received all the documents in English at night and only translated them and published them in the morning. If you did vetting and all the prosecutors and judges, because of the vetting, they put people in prison, because the criterion was "don't let anyone out of prison". Was anyone fired for keeping someone in prison for nothing? If this were to happen, then I would say that the criteria were well studied by the experts. All the experts have taken a job and are comfortable today.

"The high-level experts who made the reform are hiding in the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court. If this was such great science, North Macedonia and Montenegro did not accept it. If we have MPs who vote with their eyes closed and trust the experts, let them continue then," Beci told "A2 CNN".
