The Tax Administration has undertaken this Tuesday a surprise action in the largest real estate agencies in the country, hitting some of the most serious phenomena of informality in the construction and real estate brokerage sector. The focus of the controls were: declaration of real salaries, registration of employees, fiscal invoicing of sales, as well as suspicions of evasion in apartment prices.
According to the official announcement of the General Directorate of Taxes, inspectors have identified serious violations, such as: undeclared employees, fictitious low salaries in relation to real income, lack of tax documentation and lack of transparency in issuing sales invoices.
"Zero tolerance towards informality in construction," says the Tax Department statement, which has warned of the continuation of the action without any compromise, asking entities to declare real salaries and fiscalize every transaction, to avoid administrative measures and criminal prosecution.

Sources from the Tax Department explain that, based on interviews with employees and their self-declarations, it has been found that a good part of them work with fictitious contracts or are not registered in the tax system at all. Also, cases have been identified where the real sale price of apartments was much higher than that declared in the fiscal invoices.
This action comes at a time when the construction and real estate sector is under increased scrutiny for money laundering, informality, and links to suspicious financial activities.
" The Tax Administration has carried out inspections in the largest real estate agencies in the country, identifying undeclared employees, unrealistic salaries, lack of invoicing and tax evasion in the sale of apartments. The action will continue without tolerance or compromise! Declare real salaries to avoid administrative and criminal measures ," the announcement states.
