SPAK communicates the charges to Elvis Roshi
The former Mayor of Kavaja, Elvis Roshi, is accused of abuse of office during the period 2013-2014, in connection with tenders organized by the Municipality. Investigations, launched by the Supreme Audit Office and then by the Special Prosecution, revealed that several operators with the lowest bid were unfairly excluded, causing damages of 33 million lek. The acts were transferred to SPAK after the decision of the GJKKO in March 2024. Roshi is one of the first politicians whose career was interrupted due to the decriminalization law, after he had hidden criminal records abroad.
Drug trafficking worth millions of euros
The international operation “STURL ONE” dismantled an Albanian-Italian drug trafficking organization. Nine people were arrested, eight Albanians and one Italian, while the investigation includes 15 individuals. The organization trafficked cocaine, hashish and marijuana from South America, Northern Europe and Spain, collecting millions of euros. Communication was carried out through the encrypted platform SkyECC, decoded by the French authorities. The operation took place in various cities in Italy and Albania, with the participation of 50 officers. In Brescia, a Moroccan citizen was arrested with over 3 kg of drugs and 5,800 euros.
The trial for the murder of Ardit Spahiu in Belgium
The trial of Franc Çopja and eight others for the murder of Ardit Spahiu is underway in Belgium. Investigators read thousands of SkyECC messages that show the victim being stalked by the executioner Flobenc Meçja. The messages reveal coded communications and planning for the murder, including a message in which Meçja wrote that he had to “finish the masquerade” due to the birth of his wife. The codes used linked Flobenc Meçjan and Mikael Qosjan to Franc Çopja. The hearing resumes to clarify the roles of the defendants.
Abuses and Bets in the State Police
Also, 6 police officers, including one from RENEA, were placed under investigation for involvement in illegal sports betting. Two officers and one citizen were placed under house arrest, while the other four were placed under detention and reporting requirements. The investigation began in 2025 and 7 phones used for criminal activity were seized.
Murder and violence
In Greece, Jani Aliaj, 49, was killed in Koridhalos prison, awaiting extradition to Albania. He was stabbed by a 28-year-old Greek man, the wounds causing his immediate death. Meanwhile, in Albania, Andi Vokri, 28, killed Petrit Ndoun with a hammer after a dispute over car scratches. In Germany, an Albanian held a drug gang member hostage and had two of his toes cut off as punishment for losing a work phone.
Bribery and abuse in Kosovo
Four people, including two officials from the Kosovo Ministry of Interior, were arrested for bribery and abuse of office in issuing weapons permits. Police seized 7 phones, files and documents. The law provides for imprisonment and fines for unauthorized weapons.
Rail tragedy in Spain
The death toll from the collision of two trains has reached 40, over 150 are injured, 43 are missing. The accident occurred near Adamuth, in Cordoba, when one train derailed and hit another. Experts found wear on the tracks at the junction connecting two sections, creating a possible gap. Three scenarios are being examined: damage to the line, a technical problem with the train, or an interaction of the two.
