Aulon Kalaja, the candidate for deputy from the Democratic Party in Durrës, appeared today at the Special Prosecutor's Office.
Kalaja failed to secure the mandate by a small number of votes in the May 11 elections.
He has filed a criminal complaint regarding a government decision to waive fines a few days before the election. According to him, this decision unfairly influenced the electoral outcome.
Kalaja demands that SPAK investigate the legality and impact of this act on the electoral process. He emphasizes that he is determined to pursue every legal avenue to protect the integrity of the vote.
We recall that two days before the elections, the government approved a decision forgiving a series of fines and administrative measures imposed over the years on citizens and businesses.
This decision provided for the repeal of all unexecuted administrative measures that were imposed during the period from January 1, 2015 to November 30, 2024.
Another complaint for the forgiveness of fines was previously filed with SPAK by Lulzim Basha's Euro-Atlantic Coalition.
