Journalist Adriatik Doçi writes that Ilir Meta's mother-in-law, Fatima Kryemadhi, used and exploited her husband's death to cover up the laundering of dirty money and justify the purchase of an apartment in the former block.

" From the rental income and from the income from her work, Fatimja had also bought a 1+1 apartment in the place called Dolce Vita in Durrës. She later sold this apartment, but she did not even remember the purchase price and nor the sale. Regarding the apartments that she had bought from Bjorn shpk, Fatima stated that she had bought these apartments with the money that people had given her as a consolation when her husband died. Fatima Kryemadhi stated that she did not remember how much had bought the apartments but he remembered that he had done the liquidation through the bank. Fatima Kryemadhi states that from the money that people had given him for consolation, about 100 million old leks were collected, and the apartments he bought with this income were later exchanged for the apartment where Lefteri Haxhiu lived, at Fratari's palace in the former block, where he lived with Monika. When asked what land he had sold to citizen Gentjan Sula, for the value of 246,000 USD, this fact was stated in the bank where he had deposited the money... ".
