Journalist Elton Qyno has confessed how he was trapped in SPAK.
Qyno said they locked him and got 3 verdicts against him in 1 hour.
Qyno: My case is the most unprecedented that has happened in Albania since 1991. Of course it is the case of Mr. Frangaj and Leka who were arrested and after 4-5 days they were released, but I was blocked for a few hours and then there was a blitz operation where everything was seized and blocked. They even blocked my car key, are you saying that my resources were in the car key? I received it at noon the other night.
Duma: How did it happen as a procedure?
Qyno: I entered SPAK at the invitation of a Judicial Police Officer to familiarize myself with a non-publication order. I did not enter either to be called as a witness, or to hand over phones or materials. I was invited for another thing and it ended up being another thing. Secondly, even though I was asked for a statement, I still expressed my willingness to show the data that I expressed in that statement. And as soon as I finished the statement, since I didn't show the source from where I got it, it was insisted that I hand over the phone. There is something that, I am not the only one who enters SPAK without a phone because the Special Prosecutor's Office does not allow any journalist to enter those premises with a phone.
Even in press conferences, we are informed in the official message that phones are not allowed in the conference. I'm actually surprised that cameras are allowed and not phones because there is no phone connection when you put in the machine gun. Things escalated to the point that the apartment was searched, which is the most serious act that can happen to a journalist in Albania. SPAK chose strategy in my case. They called me and locked me in there, they also locked the door with a key and I stayed in there until the point that, I was staying on the second floor, on the first floor there were court proceedings. In one hour, three control decisions were issued against me.
Duma: Who represents you in those processes?
Qyno: Nobody. I was up on the second floor. Downstairs, the trial took place.
Karamuço: Locking the door with a key is an illegal deprivation of liberty. It constitutes a criminal offense.
