Today, the next hearing for the 'Gërdeci' case will be held, which is expected to start at 9:00.
We remind you that in the last session, former minister Fatmir Mediu refused to answer the questions of SPAK prosecutors as a defendant.
He made a statement in the Court where he said that he would only answer the questions of the lawyers and at that stage even the prosecutors, according to him, have the right to ask questions. According to the representatives of the investigation body, this is called a rejection by Mediu.
Likewise, the former director of Logistics, Dashnor Caushi, refused to give his testimony in the last session. Dashnor Caushi, a co-defendant sentenced to 3 years in prison for abuse of office, refused to speak using the right granted by the law. Under these conditions, the prosecutors asked to read some of his statements made in the previous process where he was convicted.
Meanwhile, the questioning of the 5 American witnesses in the trial against the former minister, Fatmir Mediu, in the Special Court clashed SPAK prosecutors with the defendant's lawyers.
SPAK prosecutors requested that the question be asked through a letter-order, since according to them, the question through video-conference was difficult, for technical reasons, but also because of the time difference between the two countries.
While Mediu's lawyers, as well as the lawyer of the victims' families, asked questions through the video conference. According to the lawyers, only in this way the questioning of the witnesses would be exhaustive.
