GJKKO has sentenced the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, to 2 years in prison, accused of election corruption.
Analyst Artur Zheji said that Mitsotakis used Beler for electoral purposes. He emphasizes that the two prime ministers, in Tirana and Athens, won the elections on Beler's back.
"I wanted to say that a punishment like this would have more in Albania to demoralize vote theft. Beleri is not a victim, but it has been factored by the repeated intervention of the Hellenic Republic, which has the cause of Beleri at heart. Mitsotakis used it for electoral reasons because the other party attacks Rama for bullying him. But the fact is that both prime ministers in Tirana and Athens won the elections, even on Beler's back. Beleri was used just as strongly by Mitsotakis as an old vote-getting cause even today in Greece for the dual political and local campaign. Earned years with Beler's card. Even Albanian justice becomes more serious, when the international optics is on this cause, the accountability of the justice system will be higher", said Zheji for "Abc News".
His colleague, Pandeli Kokaveshi, was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison, but the Court suspended the prison sentence and imposed 3 years of probation.
