Journalist Erl Murati spoke about the approval of the statutory changes, paving the way for the head of the parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, and the deputy speaker of the Parliament, Agron Gjekmarkaj, to be automatically appointed as party vice-presidents.
He says that the statute is being violated by not holding a vote. Despite this union, Murati emphasized that the opposition remains far from achieving the final goal, a union of the entire opposition front.
Murati also added that former Prime Minister Berisha, in his current state, risks not participating in the upcoming parliamentary elections and losing his mandate as a deputy, so the opposition must also prepare for this scenario.
"There is an accusation from some DP members that the statute is being violated with the appointment of two vice presidents. Here we are dealing with a political formation that does not need vice presidents, since Berisha is the president and vice president himself. They do not play an essential role as Berisha plays the main role. From the administrative point of view, there are voices criticizing the appointments of Bardhi and Gjekmarkaj, since according to the statute, vice presidents must be elected and not appointed. However, the opposition is in a difficult moment and the political interest for unification prevails.
In the current situation, the union with Basha seems very difficult to me. Shpëtim Idrizi has left Berisha for several positions, Meta did not participate in the February 20 protest. However, I see that the opposition is far from the final goal of the final union. Berisha risks burning his mandate and not participating as a candidate in the next parliamentary elections is a real scenario, despite what his supporters want to believe. Under these circumstances, this is a real scenario and the opposition should be prepared that Berisha may not participate in the parliamentary elections. However, if Berisha leaves the leadership of the opposition, the latter will suffer another trauma", he told "News 24".
