The anti-corruption court has returned the case against Vangjush Dako for completion of investigations.
The former mayor of Durrës, Vangjush Dako, is accused of abuse of office in 2 cases.
The last session started at 12:00 in the Special Court and continued until 17:00.
The former mayor, through his lawyer, requested the dismissal of the case or a summary trial. Dako, who was present at the session, stated that the permit for the 7-storey building "was a collegial decision". The building, which was built with 11 floors, was damaged by the earthquake on November 26, 2019, and the residents sued the municipality in SPAK.
As for the coastline tender, Dako said in the session that the project is there and asked to be verified, while the lawyers claim that there is no criminal offense.
Meanwhile, the hearing will continue with the statements of the other accused. Then it will be decided whether the file will go to trial or not.
Vangjush Dako, the former mayor of Durres was arrested by order of SPAK on June 6, 2023 together with 8 former officials of the municipality of Durres and a builder. He is charged with abuse of office in 2 cases. One for a construction permit granted 11 years ago and for a 2014-2015 tender for the construction of a promenade in the coastal area that has caused a loss of 18 million lek to the state budget.
