The GJKKO decided today to reject a request by the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, for the return of the mobile phone that was seized while he was arrested in his office by order of SPAK.
Veliaj appealed to the GJKKO to return the phone, but Judge Erion Bani, who reviewed the request, dismissed it.
Mayor Veliaj's phone was seized as material evidence.
Veliaj has been in solitary confinement in Durrës prison for more than 3 weeks. Through his legal defense, he has opposed the security measure of 'prison arrest' requested by SPAK and imposed by the GJKKO.
