The President of the Republic of Albania, Bajram Begaj, paid tribute today in honor of the world-renowned prominent Albanian writer, Ismail Kadare, at the last state farewell ceremony organized in Tirana.
President Begaj, accompanied by the First Lady, placed the wreath of flowers next to the coffin covered with the flag of Albania.
Begaj sent his condolences to his wife, Helena Kadare, and daughters, Gresa e Besiana, and then noted in the book of condolences the evaluations for the "Honour of the Nation".
"Albania and the Albanians today convey to the pantheon of eternity their genius of letters, the Balkans the poet of its myths, Europe and the world among the most prominent representatives of modern literature. Thanks to his rare talent and patriotic conscience, Ismail Kadare won forever the privileged status of a social and identity emancipator.
An innovator in style, as well as in language, together with Mother Teresa, he became the international emblem of Albania and Albanians of modern times. Ismail Kadare will always be remembered with honor as a promoter, like no one else, of national pride, especially of the European orientation of the Albanian nation. Farewell, our great!", was the message of President Begaj.
