Today, the colossus of Albanian letters, Ismail Kadare, is sent to his last residence.
Public tributes began at 09:00 at the National Theater of Opera, Ballet and Popular Ensemble. While at 11:30 a.m., the state farewell ceremony will be held. At 12:30, the procession will leave for the Tufina cemetery.
His wife, Helena Kadare, is seen together with the two girls dressed in black and with tears in their eyes.
"Yes, you said Where, you said Atdhe. The homeland and that before the world are one. Farewell maestro. Farewell, genius, rarely in the world come people like you. And alone and brave in the face of betrayal", writes Helena in a reaction on Facebook.
In honor of the writer, Albania declared July 2 and 3 days of mourning, while Kosovo declared July 3 a day of mourning. In both countries, the flags are lowered to half-mast.
