The acting mayor of Himara, Jorgo Goro, was arrested today by order of the SPAK Special Prosecutor's Office.
It is reported that 4 other people ended up in handcuffs. It is learned that his arrest came after a report by Fredi Beleri.
Along with Goron, another person identified as Mihallaq Bonjaku was arrested, while three others were placed under house arrest.
Thus, it is reported that the arrests are related to the strategic investment status of Artan Gaçi, the husband of the former Minister of Foreign Affairs Olta Xhaçka. For Goro, the suspicions of abuse of office weigh heavily.
On the other hand, Mihallaq Bonjaku, is the person who claimed that his property was stolen, or more precisely a part of the property on which Artan Gaçi, the husband of former minister Xhaçka, was declared a strategic investor and started the construction of the luxury resort. He says that his property was fenced off and he was not allowed to enter it.
We recall that Goro remained in office as the mayor of Himara even though he lost the May 14 elections to Fredi Beleri, who was recently convicted of vote-buying.
Sources inform that Goro was arrested in Dhërmi, by SPAK agents, as soon as he got up from the cafe, where he was staying with some of his friends. The same sources say they were keeping him under surveillance.
