The 46-year-old operative Erjon Goxhara is still on the run, despite negotiations with colleagues and family members, including a conversation calling for the surrender of Tirana's chief police officer, Tonin Vocaj.
Goxhara, father of two children, is in a serious psychological condition after firing 6 bullets at Lorenc Kosta, the 45-year-old who had a relationship with the policeman's wife, a fact accepted by his wife after being questioned by the investigators.
The extramarital story seems to have come to life in the workplace, as Kosta is an electrical engineer at the Energy Regulatory Authority, the same state institution, where the employee's wife also works as a lawyer.
The injured man, originally from Berat and living in Tirana, is under the care of doctors at the Trauma hospital after receiving first aid from passers-by, while the police have charged the perpetrator with attempted murder.
Goxhara was previously the commander of the Shqiponja department, while recently he works in the Border and Migration Directorate in Tirana, a position he lost after immediately after his injury, Chief Police Officer Vocaj announced his departure from the ranks of the blue uniforms.
The search operations of the RENEA forces are concentrated on the outskirts of the capital, with the suspicion that Erjon Goxhara is located on Dajti mountain. For anyone who provides information on the location of the 46-year-old, the police have a reward of 10,000 euros, ensuring complete anonymity.
The event happened around 14:00 on August 19, 2024. The 46-year-old officer acted coldly to injure Lorenc Kosta. The latter was walking near the 'Kika2' complex, while the police officer was driving. The officer stopped and shot him, leaving him injured. After that, he took a picture of the injured man, who was lying on the pavement and covered in blood.
After the serious incident, Goxhara left with his vehicle in the direction of his apartment, took a bag with him and immediately left. It is suspected that he left towards Dajti, where the police searches are concentrated.
