Erion Isai, the mayor of Kolonja, has appeared before the Special Prosecution Office.
The appearance at SPAK comes two weeks after SPAK extended the investigations regarding allegations of "violation of equality of participants in tenders or public auctions", "abuse of office" and "falsification of documents".
Isai, along with 5 other officials of the Municipality of Kolonja, were indicted by SPAK at the end of September in connection with two tenders, the one for the Korçë-Ersekë road and the one for the Kolonja Water Supply Company.
The tender for the Korçë-Ersekë road, part of which collapsed as soon as it was built, caused Mayor Isai to be summoned to SPAK for the first time in May 2023. Among the defendants is the road design firm A&E ENGINEERING, owned by Entela Çano, which is suspected of having ties to Isai. Entela Çano's company was also the supervisor of the works, which would guarantee the quality of the works.
She won the tender for almost the limit fund worth almost 200 thousand euros.
The construction of this road was carried out by the company "ANK", while the procurer is the Albanian Road Authority.
In 2022, over two billion lek were allocated from the state budget for the Second Lot, or 21 million euros.
In addition to the communications of the accusations, SPAK is continuing investigations into the role of ARRSH as the tendering authority and the ANK company that won the tender and carried out the works on the Korçë-Ersekë road. This construction company is owned by Agim Kola, brother of former SP MP, Ndue Kola.
