An earthquake with a magnitude of 4 to 5 struck our country, shortly after midnight on Saturday, with the epicenter in the area between Cërrik and Belsh, at a depth of 20 km.
The earthquake was felt a lot, almost throughout central Albania. In a statement to the media, seismologist Edmond Dushi said that the earthquake occurred in an area known for seismic activity.
"It was an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.3 on the Richter scale, it is classified as a moderate earthquake. It is the threshold where the seismic effect begins to be felt. It was felt more in Lushnjë, Fier, Kavajë Durrës and Tirana. The earthquake is relatively shallow and had the effect on the surface. The area where the earthquake occurred is an area known for seismic activity," said seismologist Dushi.
During Sunday, it was not accompanied by other aftershocks. This earthquake is considered important by seismologists, because the tremors were felt long and over a wide range. The use of many foreign applications by citizens caused contradictory data to be distributed on social networks, while seismologists explain that they are automatic data, generated by systems and only when earthquakes are important, as in these cases, then they are detailed estimates for accurate results.
