Ilir Allkja in protest

Doctor Ilir Allkja spoke this evening at the protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office, where he raised concerns about the state of the healthcare system and the costs that, according to him, burden Albanian citizens.

Speaking to the protesters, Allkja stated that Albanians continue to pay the majority of health expenses out of pocket, despite the government's promises of free healthcare.

" We have the expression: to have health. But how much money goes to people's health? Albanians pay 60% of their income for health expenses from their own pockets. Albanians pay more than others in the region ," he said.

The doctor accused the government of not keeping its promise of free healthcare, calling the current situation a failure that is weighing heavily on citizens, especially the poorest segments of society.

" Rama must resign. The promise of free healthcare turned into a nightmare for Albanians ," declared Allkja amid applause from protesters.

He emphasized that the financial burden for health treatment continues to weigh on Albanian families, arguing that citizens pay more than other countries in the region.

" Today, poor Albanians pay more than the people of the region and the world directly out of pocket for health. Therefore, this is one of the causes for which Rama should have left in time ," said Allkja.

His statements were made during the 19th day of protests against the government, where citizens continued to call for the removal of Prime Minister Edi Rama and changes in the country's leadership.
