According to Brigadier General Ferdinand Dimo, it was the decision of the Albanian state and NATO in 2018 to turn this base into a tactical base of the Alliance, while on March 4 of this year it is fully effective.
A few days before the inauguration day, the works at the Kuçova air base are nearing completion, to turn it into a NATO tactical base.
For the first time, the images of what this base looks like have been published, while the Commander of the Air Force, Brigadier General Ferdinand Dimo, explains the steps that have been followed so far. It clarifies the functions to be performed by this base.
" We are at the end of all the works for the Air Force troops to train at this base. But not only that, NATO troops and NATO aircraft can be accommodated, trained and flown from Kuçova air base, which is already a NATO tactical air base .
NATO's tactical base in Kuçovo will also serve in the economic development of the entire district of Berat.
" The construction of the NATO airbase in Kuçovo has an extraordinary development impact in the community and in the entire area of the Berat district" , says Brigadier General Ferdinand Dimo.

" In 2021, the investments for the revitalization of the installations of the Kuçova base were planned to be carried out. Already today we are at the end of the implementation of 3 important projects such as the fencing and security system, as well as the perimeter protection of the base. Approximately 50 million euros are invested by NATO and more than 5 million euros are invested by the Albanian government ", explains the Commander of the Air Force.
Kuçova Air Base will be inaugurated on March 4, according to the planned plan. High representatives of the Albanian state, NATO and the USA will participate in the ceremony.
