The lawyer Kreshnik Spahiu stated that with the election of Fredi Beleri as his candidate in the Himare municipality, Sali Berisha has shown political incoherence.
In an interview for Euronews Albania, Spahiu said that in 1994, when Berisha was president, he issued an arrest warrant for Fredi Beleri for the Peshkepi massacre, while in 2023 he ran for mayor in the most sensitive area of the country.
" When Berisha was president and chairman of the High Council of Justice in 1994, Beleri was wanted for the murders in Peshkepia, and Berisha was part of the conflict with Greece at that time for the arrest of 5 representatives of OMONIA, one of whom was Beleri. This one who led Albania due to the conflict with Greece in '97, is moving on to a new chapter and this man for whom he had issued an arrest warrant is being released as a political representative in the most precious and delicate area in the diplomatic part, that all the projects of the organizations of Vorio Epiri have been to hellenize parts from Himara and below ", said Spahiu.
