The former German ambassador to Albania, Werner Daum, was found dead in a hotel room in Golem, Kavaja, where he had apparently chosen to spend his vacation. The 82-year-old former diplomat had been in Albania for a few days, returning after 35 years.
Meanwhile, the police in an official statement said that the former ambassador died of natural causes. According to the official statement, Daum was found missing in a hotel room.
"Around 12:30, in Golem, in a hotel room, citizen W. D., 82 years old (former German ambassador) was found without signs of life.
A preliminary examination revealed no signs of violence. It is suspected that death was due to natural causes.
"The investigation team is at the scene and is continuing to work to fully clarify the circumstances of the case," the police announced.
