The fire situation in the south of the country continues to be critical. After the fires recorded in recent days in Dukat Lërt and in the Llogara mountains, a new fire was reported this Monday in Dukat Fushë.
Images from the scene show that the flames have burned a significant area of land, while strong winds and high temperatures are spreading the fire rapidly towards several homes. Intervention from the ground is difficult due to the terrain.
At the same time, another fire broke out in the village of Janjar in the Konispol Municipality, near the border with Greece. 5 firefighters and 3 forest rangers are working on the ground, while the assistance of the Filati fire service in Greece has also been requested. The reaction from the Greek side has been immediate; two helicopters are operating over the area to extinguish the flames.
Local authorities are appealing for maximum caution, stressing that extreme temperatures and wind increase the risk of the fires spreading rapidly. The situation remains open and emergency structures are on standby to protect homes and forests from major damage.
