Judges and prosecutors who reveal the secrets of investigative files should be punished, not journalists who publish them.
This is what lawyer Kreshnik Spahiu said about the new changes to the Criminal Code proposed by the government, which also includes the section on the publication of judicial investigation materials.
" You cannot punish journalists for publishing information, while there are no judges and prosecutors to be accused of extracting materials from files. They are the ones who extract that data and there are many cases. There are 9 people who have lost their lives as a result of extracting investigative secrets according to files and wiretaps in SKY ECC from the information that has come out, while you cannot punish journalists for this ," he argued.
The lawyer was categorically against and considered the attempt to punish the media for publishing information from the investigation to be wrong, as this data is provided by judges and prosecutors themselves.
" It puts journalists in the group of accused, but not those who give them. There is no one convicted of those who publish them. So there is no mention of cause and effect ," Spahiu told Report TV.
