Former police chief Shemsi Prençi blamed the security situation in the country for halting the reform of the state police.
Prençi said that today the police have new leaders, but old department heads, who need to move on. He also added that immediate intervention is needed in the Lezha region, where two groups have repeatedly created victims.
"I have been waiting for the police reform. Today it has been stopped. There are no good appointments. We have 5-6 departments that should be subject to the competition, but it has not been opened. We have new directors, but departments with previous people. The criminal investigation department should come down with the best team in Lezha. There are two hotbeds that are producing murders," Prençi said on A2CNN.
