The head of the "Thurje" initiative, Endri Shabani, has spoken about the sterilization concession worth nearly 100 million euros, for which the former deputy was arrested. Minister of Health Klodian Rjepaj and businessman Ilir Rrapaj as well as 6 officials are being investigated at large.
Shabani emphasized that Sali Berisha and Ilir Meta make accusations in the media, but they do not go to the relevant institutions to report. According to him, this happens since they are partners with the other party.
"It was an important victory of social activism. It has been talked about here for 30 years, there have been no shortage of accusations in the media. They speak in the media but they don't go to institutions, they don't report them to the prosecutor's office. In short, they do not cause harm to the other party. Herein lies the problem. When you are serious about this battle with corruption, when you are serious about trying to build a fairer society in Albania and to change this political class, then this requires bold steps and concrete steps, which the people who are partners, that is, people who are in a stage of threat and blackmail. At this point, the feeling is a sign of optimism that things are changing," he told "Euronews Albania".
