A conflict that started a year ago in Shëngjin between young men from the Ndoka and Nikulaj families is suspected of leading to the assassination attempt three days ago in Lezha, where Sokol Daci was mistakenly injured.
Journalist Artan Hoxha, on the show "Albania Live", explained the dynamics of the clash between two well-known families in Lezha and stated that the event could have been prevented.
Hoxha said that both families have social, political and economic weight in the area. According to him, both own hotels in the beach area and have also had clashes in politics. He added that the Nikulaj family created a political force and was involved in alliances, while the Ndoka family has had strong representation in local government and in the Assembly. The elder brother of the Ndoka family has headed the municipal council, while another has become a deputy.
According to Hoxha, the assassination of Ardian Nikulaj changed the balance, as the family lost a key figure. He stated that, if Nikulaj were alive, he would have attempted communication with the other side to avoid escalation.
He also mentioned the role of a police officer, saying that his reaction avoided more serious consequences, although, according to him, the essence would be prevention through a thorough investigation of the first incident.
"Both families are socially, politically, and economically influential. Both families have hotels in the beach area. They have had political battles. The Nikulajs formed a political force themselves, were involved in other alliances. The Ndokajs are a powerful family, the head of the municipal council was the older brother, who is no longer alive. The other brother became a deputy.
So we are dealing with two powerful families in the area. With the assassination attempt on Ardian Nikulaj, they lost the man at the top. If he were alive, this situation would not have happened, because he would have sought to talk to the other side. Both sides have other real enemies. The Ndokajs have opponents, they also have the state. The leaders would not want to add to themselves a conflict that has no end.
That policeman… I don't know the motives, but his reaction has avoided the consequences. The role is not to solve the incident, the role would be to prevent, that is, to investigate the first incident exhaustively. This second incident, with the failure to arrest other people, warns that there will be a third incident. This would have extraordinary consequences. Does anyone think about what could happen if they collided in the center of Lezha? ", said Hoxha.
