Lawyer Brizida Gjikondi commented on the CEC's sending of 16 candidates for the May 11 elections to the prosecutor's office.
In an interview with News Line, Gjikondi said that Berisha's list has more shelter for sinful people.
"The 16 candidacies that the CEC has referred to the Prosecutor's Office for a more in-depth investigation result from small parties. Some are expelled from EU countries, some have conflicts with traffic police, so they do not have serious criminal offenses. They have made a self-declaration about the problems that have occurred where there was doubt, the CEC has sent them for verification. Apparently, the new parties are not yet used to the lists of candidates.
I see it as a double-edged sword that the decriminalization law is an innovation but it also has its tricks in it. As long as people like Meta and Berisha have the courage to run for MP, I think the law is not where it should be.
"An elite citizen, like a deputy, cannot hide behind small tricks, like Meta. It is a first step, I think that Berisha's list has more shelter for sinful people. Rama has taken care to have innovations on the list, and not involved in corruption," said Gjikondi.
