The Supreme Court will decide today in the consulting room on the appeal of former Attorney General Adriatik Llalla on the decision to sentence him to 2 years in prison for failure to declare and conceal assets.

Llalla is staying in Italy where his passport has been blocked, while several assets have been seized by final decision, including an apartment in Durrës and land on the outskirts of Tirana.

The investigation against Llalla was initially registered by the Durrës Prosecutor’s Office on March 15, 2018, on charges of concealing assets, abuse of office, and money laundering. He was also investigated for the criminal offense of “failing to declare monetary amounts at the border.” The file was then sent to the Serious Crimes Prosecutor’s Office, and in July 2018, this court ordered the seizure of the former Attorney General’s properties.

In the end, Llalla was found guilty of failure to declare and conceal assets in 3 cases. Also, based on the additional sentence, the former chief prosecutor should not exercise any public function for 5 years.
