Krenar Ahmeti makes a strong proposal: The government should give each prosecutor 1 million euros to crack down on crime

Former police chief Krenar Ahmeti, while commenting on crime in the country, made a proposal: "The state should offer prosecutors large rewards, up to 1 million euros, to deal a decisive blow to organized crime."

Ahmeti argued that criminal policy and law enforcement today are distorted, and in the absence of effective financial punishment, crime “succeeds” in profit. He emphasized the moral paradox: “ Why not prefer a year in prison and millions, rather than real punishment? ”

According to him, the reform should affect criminal policy more deeply: there should be severe sanctions and real confiscations of illegally acquired assets, otherwise any symbolic punishment will not deter crime. “ If I steal $10 million and they put me in prison for two or three years, I am ready to go back to the streets after a few years, this does not scare anyone ,” said Ahmeti, invited to the show "Off the Record" with Andrea Danglli on A2 CNN.
