The government finally remembers to react to the scandal of the ship that was caught with dangerous substances headed from Albania to Thailand.
At a time when the case has been referred to the prosecutor's office by the Albanian authorities, the American news agency "Bloomberg", after communications with the Singaporean authorities, confirms the return of 100 containers filled with dust suspected to have come from steel furnace filters.

" Volumes of goods which are suspected to contain waste from the technological process carried out by international companies operating near the metallurgical complex in Elbasan, have been loaded into container units near the Rifuxhio Goods Terminal in Durrës, which is operated by the German concessionaire company EMS. The Ministry of Tourism and Environment has not given any authorization and as a result the company has not submitted data on the destination of the load ", the response states.
Underscoring that international conventions and domestic legislation consistent with them, provide a series of obligations for producers and transporters of such waste, the Ministry of Tourism and Environment also points to the route of waste that traveled from Europe to Asia to be blocked in Singapore : " Next, these container units, owned by the international line MSC, are suspected to have been transported to the Port of Trieste through international container ships. In this port of the European Union, the container units have not been objects of controls and have been allowed to continue their route by being transported on ships operated by another well-known international operator (Maersk), destined for Southeast Asia .
"Bloomberg" reports that before returning to Albania, the containers with suspected hazardous waste will dock at the Gioia Tauro port in Italy at the end of September.
" Furnace dust, which requires treatment, is a hazardous waste product that usually comes from steel scrap recycling and contains toxic metal oxides such as cadmium and chromium that are harmful to health and the environment ," the article said.
