Protests have started in Tirana in support of former KLA fighter Dritan Goxhaj.
The patriotic association "Krahët e Shqiponja" has requested the release of Goxhajt, stating that his arrest is unjust, thus requesting that he not be extradited to The Hague.
"Go to Serbia and catch the Serbian criminals who have killed. We want freedom for Dritan Goxhaj" , said a citizen.
Goxhaj was arrested in Tirana on July 31, on account of the Hague Court.
He is charged with two charges of "Intimidation during criminal proceedings" and "Obstructing an official in the performance of his duties". Goxhaj's lawyer, Bashkim Nikolla, described the arrest of his client as a politically motivated decision, adding that he is innocent.
Lieutenant Dritan Goxhaj, a pilot at the Vlorë Aviation School, joined the KLA in March 1999. He is the son of soldier Dilaver Goxhaj, who voluntarily joined the KLA and was entrusted with the position of Deputy Chief of the General Staff of KLA. Dritan Goxhaj, KLA fighter, Albanian soldier, intellectual and free speech journalist, was arrested on July 31 by the Albanian State Police, referring to the Letter-Order of the Kosovo Special Court.
This is the first case of the arrest of an Albanian citizen by order of the Specialized Chambers operating in The Hague with the laws of Kosovo. Dritan Goxhaj, a KLA fighter, is accused of: "Intimidation during the criminal procedure" and "Obstructing an official in the performance of official duties". These absurd accusations were raised after his writing as a free journalist "Memedheu, the KLA and the special court" Stand in solidarity in support of the KLA fighter and free speech Dritan Goxhaj.
