Journalist Artan Hoxha says that SPAK has had positive results in the fight against organized crime, including drug trafficking, as shown by the recent "Revanshi" investigation that hit seven criminal groups.
Invited to the show "Te Paespozuarit" on MCN TV, while making a summary of the criminal events of this year, Hoxha said that the exponents of organized crime have been withdrawn and left the country, due to strikes and investigations. Hoxha said that the low number of murders involving criminal organizations, only two since January of this year, proves this fact.
" The head of SPAK, unlike when he took office and declared that he would have a monthly meeting with journalists, spent a long time, six months, until he made his last appearance. The last outing, unlike his previous outings, served as a kind of chronology, for some events. He was asked questions and gave dry answers, saying that we have left these matters to the investigation. What made it clear is the fact that SPAK remains the original objective for which it was established, that is, the special prosecution against corruption and organized crime.
Half of SPAK works and investigates corruption, while the other half, which I think is the best that SPAK has and has the most results, which is obvious, is the part of SPAK that deals with organized crime and drug trafficking. The results so far are the fact that in total in Albania last year is a record since 1991, there is a smaller number of murders, 34 in total. The vast majority of those who are known as exponents of organized crime have left the country, are located mainly in Dubai, a smaller part are in Europe and Latin America. This has caused the intensity of mafia events related to organized crime to drop in Albania. Therefore, Albania has had this result.
SPAK is in its infancy, facing organized crime. They have withdrawn, to ensure the inviolability of themselves and their families, not to be exposed, because when you have the state on your back, it is easier for the opponent to hit you.
The government tries to justify this with the actions it has taken against organized crime, but it seems to me that the drop in murders has come from this phenomenon, that is, the exposure of organized crime like never before by investigative bodies, in the media, in investigations things that have been done. The latest SPAK investigation had seven groups inside and 50 arrest warrants. It was the most extensive investigation ever.
What the head of SPAK communicated to journalists was this fact, that SPAK is at work, dealing with organized crime.
What is obvious, SPAK is mainly concerned with the part of central Albania and the north. What is expected is what will happen with other investigations, even in cooperation with foreign authorities. Groups that have expanded activity, in central Albania, mainly in the area of Elbasan and then it will go down to the area of Vlora and Tepelena. Lushnja, Fieri, Berati have not been affected, they are far from the investigations.
This is something I didn't believe until I saw in Dubai who was there ," said Hoxha.
