The General Director of the State Police, Ilir Proda, participated in the annual analysis of the Traffic Police Directorate and its subordinate structures in the regions.

During the analysis, the Director General emphasized that road safety, despite being better in 2024 than in previous years, is not within the parameters it should be.

Proda has requested from the Traffic Police structures, immediate reaction, greater commitment and dedication, to prevent road incidents and to intervene on those axes where there is more traffic.

"The Traffic Police Service must be a model, in performance, in communication, in professionalism and in humane sentiment to help road users in need.

I do not want the amount of administrative measures and any of you who will measure the work indicators with the amount of administrative measures, I will automatically remove them from their duties. I want quality in work and to punish those who are truly at risk of being involved in road accidents, those who spin tires and cause noise pollution, becoming a nuisance for citizens. Those drivers who park on sidewalks, obstructing the movement of pedestrians and mothers with strollers with children, as well as those who park on the street, obstructing the free movement of vehicles.

The focus of the Traffic Police services should be on identifying and punishing those drivers who drive at speeds above the permitted speed limit, up to three times the permitted speed limit, those who overtake incorrectly, use a mobile phone while driving, and those who drive under the influence of alcohol or while intoxicated.

These are priority tasks for all Traffic Police services and for you, the heads of sectors and the Traffic Police Commissariat. The entire Traffic Police Directorate must be on duty, in charge of the services and not command from offices.

Throughout this year, I expect further improvements in road safety parameters, better quality service, so that road users feel the change, and this means ethics in communication, priority follow-up of accident procedures, better monitoring of traffic and especially of road axes near schools.

Involve students in awareness campaigns for road users, as numerous violations have been observed by pedestrians or those riding bicycles, skateboards, and motorcycles, mainly at night, without distinctive (phosphorescent) signs.

"Be more active, more present in the media, which for the sake of truth has always shown itself ready to support the initiatives of the State Police for the good of the community, as well as for increasing the parameters of order and security. Whoever will not fulfill these priorities, I will remove him without hesitation from the structures of the Traffic Police."

The annual analysis was continued by the Director of the Department for Public Order and Security, Senior Manager Rebani Jaupi, and the Director of the Road Police Directorate Altin Qato, who analyzed in detail all the dynamics and problems that occurred throughout 2024 and the measures that need to be taken to fulfill the tasks left by the General Director of the State Police, to improve road safety.
