Aleksandër Kuqo is one of those characters who has filled the pages of print media and first news in visual media for years.
He has a history that goes back many years, but in 1999 he was sentenced in absentia in Italy to life imprisonment for several crimes, including "premeditated murder in collaboration", "unlicensed possession of weapons of war" and " trafficking of women for prostitution in cooperation".

The decision of the Court of Fier, which converted the Italian decision into 21 years of imprisonment, was commented on at that time and described as a scandal of Albanian justice. In 2003, Kuqo was arrested in Fier, but was released by the court after the prosecution presented documentation proving that he was mentally ill.
In the meantime, he was again captured by the police on May 6, 2006. Kuqo was arrested at the place called "the corner of the court" in the center of Berat while traveling in a "Mercedes" type vehicle with foreign license plates.
